African art throughout the ages. Founded in 1986 the museums stages two large exhibition yearly honouring sculpture and other important African art works.

Centre Pompidou

Always a crowd, always an expo. The Parisians call this area ‘beaubourg’, they dislike recalling previous politicians. It is a great venue for all ages. To many expos to mention here so visit their site also in English.

Remember free access to the museum first Sunday of the month. Closed Tuesdays then Daily 11am – 9pm.

Musée de la Publicité

Located on the upper floors in the Museé des Arts Décoratifs, this museum is dedicated to advertising in France throughout the ages. A chance to look at some of the changing behaviour and mentalities of the french through their ‘publicity’. There’s a permanent and numerous temporary exhibitions.

Musée Galliera - A Fashion Museum

Over 90,000 garments worn by grand couturiers are on display. Take a look a fashion throughout the 18th, 19th and 20th Century. In this permanent exhibition, there’s also a collection of textiles, etchings and fashion accessories such as canes, hats, fans, gloves and parasols. You can visit the library and organise a tour in English however by appointment only.

Maison de la Chasse & de la Nature

It hard to imagine a museum dedicated to the hunt in the middle of Paris, there's a wonderful museum in the Loire Valley (Montpoupon) formerly popular hunting grounds to the Kings; this museum is quite quirky and will appeal to those who wish to learn more about the french 'hunt', the seasons, animals and techniques.

Open 11am to 5pm daily except Mondays and public holidays. Entry 6 euros.

Aussi rouge que possible - Musee Les Arts Decoratifs

An exhibition of all things ‘red’ and questions about why it remains such an important colour in our society. Why is red so often chosen to evoke feelings of power, erotique, luxury and not forgetting children’s heroes, Santa, Red Riding Hood. Why does red evokes such strong emotions? The exhibition features over 400 objects in interiors, fashion, ceramics, jewelley, even the colour’s role in uniforms. If you love seeing ‘red’ you enjoy this rather unsual exhibition.

Musee de la Vie Romantique

Drawings by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres (1780-1867). A small but beautiful 'hotel particulier'. You can also visit the salon of George Sand and many of her treasures and possessions brought from her house in the Loire Valley. There's a cafe for tea in the picturesque garden
